Geography and Climate

The second most inhabited island of the Azores, with approximately 56 thousand inhabitants (2008), the 381.96 km2 of Terceira have the shape of an ellipse, being 29 km long and 17.5 km at its maximum width.

This island is located at 27º 10’ longitude west and 38º 40’ latitude north, and it is a part of the Central Group of the archipelago.

Like the other islands, the climate is mild and temperate, with no large temperature variations, ranging between 52 º F (11º C) in winter and 79º F (26º C) in summer.
